Bilbo is nominated to help the Dwarves take back their mountain from the dragon Smaug as a "Burgular". Enter war scene - fight your way out. Although not required right away, attack anything that has a yellow arrow appear above it. You'll need to master your fighting skills anyway for the next battle. Use combinations of A and X for Jump Attack, and hold X to do a spinning attack. Work your way to the back of this area and find some steps. Ascend all steps to locate the next battle scene. Here you *WILL* be required to do some fighting. When all enemies (yellow arrow above them) are eliminated, a ladder will present itself giving you an escape. You awake to find you were dreaming. You agree to be the "Burgular" and start an adventure. END INTRO =================================================== Level 1: An Unexpected Party =================================================== Objectives: Required- Meet Dwarves at Green Dragon Inn Required- Find Walking Stick Required- Find hammer and 3 bags of nails (for fixing bridge) Required- Optional- Find Gamma's Sewing Needle Optoinal- Move Hanna's Butter Churn Optoinal- Get Sugar, Spice, Wheat, 3 berries, 3 eggs, 3 Apples, Sausage, Tea-Cakes for Bombur Optional- Open Lorella's Chests Optional- Scare Off Crows Optional- Find children (Hamfast, Hilda, Bell and Sadoc) You start inside your Hobbit Hole in The Shire. Go to the dining area and get your walking stick from the chest by the fireplace. Objective complete - Find Walking Stick Exit your home and make your way left to town. Talk to Gamma to learn she lost her knitting needle in town. You agree to look for it. Talk to Hanna to learn she needs her butter churn. Fetch it from her barn and move it to the porch. Talk to Hanna again to get Tea-Cakes. Objective complete - Get Tea-Cakes for Bombur Continue on to find a row of houses, some of which have gems on the porch roof. Use the rope (Jump under it) to climb up and press A to jump onto the roof. Jump from roof to roof to get the gems. Back on the ground, talk to the man by the hay stacks to learn there are apples in an orchard above the cliff. Move the hay bail to the bottom of the cliff, jump on it and jump up to cliff. Get throwing stones by fence and press Y to go into aiming mode. With an apple targeted, press X to throw a stone at it and knock it down. Repeat on each of the three Apples. Pick them up and get the other pile of throwing stones near fence. Jump back down. Objective complete - Get three Apples for Bombur Continue down path to encounter four kids. They challenge you to a game of hide-and-seek. They disappear. Continue on and find the bridge is out. You must get the hammer from Carl, and get nails from the mill. First you travel along the creek going upstream. At the second dock, you find Hilda. Objective complete - Find Hilda Go back down and go into the mill. REMINDER - save game, or if you fall too many times you will have to start all the way back at previous save! Climb hay bails to get to platform and then jump up to next platform. Jump across way using rope to other platform. Use walking stick to break open three jars and get nails. Jump back across and go out the *BACK* of the mill. Go to the water wheel and climb onto one of the paddles of it - it picks you up to a doorway on the second story of the mill. Enter the floor and you find Bell. Objective complete - Find Bell Jump across lily pads to get to cliffs by falls. Jump across cliffs to get to left side of falls. Walk back to pond and jump islands to get to Carl. Get the Hammer from Carl and get Health Potion to left of Carl. Go back to mill and go to the front of it to give the hammer and nails to Sandyman. He will fix the bridge. Objective complete - Find Hammer and Nails to fix bridge Cross the bridge and talk to Bombur. Go talk to Lorella at produce stand. Go around back of produce stand and open each chest - this is done by hitting A when the green colored choice is active. You may have to hit the green on multiple items. Objectives complete - Open Lorella's Chests AND Get Sugar and Spice for Bombur Continue on to find Holbert by his Garden complaining of the failure of his ScareCrows. Use your walking stick to scare off the birds (minimum 3 hits to each ScareCrow). Go back and talk to Holbert to acquire Wheat Sack. Objective complete - Get Wheat for Bombur Continue on to find a Berry Patch. REMINDER - save game, or if you get caught you will have to start all the way back at previous save! Use stealth by holding in the Left Trigger when you walk and get all the Berries. Objective complete - Get 3 Berries for Bombur Continue on to find a barn with hens in it. REMINDER - save game, or if you hit the loose boards twice you will have to start all the way back at previous save! Walk to back of the barn and collect all the eggs. Objective complete - Get 3 eggs for Bombur Continue on to stacks of hay bales. Find Sadoc behind the far side of the hay bales. Objective complete - Find Sadoc Go to back of barn to find a hay stack near the garden. Get Gamma's Sewing needle. Return Gamma's needle to her. Objectives Complete - Find Gamma's Sewing Needle AND get Sausages for Bombur You speak now saying "I have all the provisions..." and the Gate will now open behind you. Enter to find the last child - Hamfast. Objective Complete - Find Hamfast Talk to Kili outside the Green Dragon. You can continue looking for Courage Points and Silver Pennies, but you eventually must go to the Green Dragon Inn to meet the Dwarves. Objective Complete - Meet the drawves at the Green Dragon END LEVEL - Buy items =================================================== Level 2: Roast Mutton =================================================== Objectives: Required- Talk to Thorin Required- Investigate Light Required- Lower water level (close flood gate) Required- Raise water level (open flood gate) Required- Steal Wallet Optional- Find Burberry plant for Kili Talk to dwraf the sitting on a stump(Kili). He asks you to get him a Burberry plant. Turn around and talk to Thorin who is looking over a valley at firelight in the distance. Thorin asks you to investigate teh lights. Walk down the stone steps in front of Thorin. Arm your waling stick and kill the wolf. Walk past the stone pillar in the center of the valley and defeat the next 3 wolves. Go up the stone steps on other side of valley. Continue to your right first and get the chest on the far right. Go back the other way next and talk to Balin who is by the stone pillar. Go up the stone steps to his right and find the Burberry plant on the right side. Return it to Balin and come back - this time you can clim the rope from the valley floor by the pillar. Objective Complete - Find Burberry plant for Kili Go back by Balin and super-jump across to the pillar by holding Left trigger and quickly pressing A. Regular jump the next gap. Proceed towards dam. Turn off flood gate to lower the water. Objective Complete - Lower water level Go back across dam and go through water to back corner where there are several pink gems - find a skeleton key on another ledge to left of where gems are. Come back and go into the basin where the water had been flowing. Find three creatures and kill them. Get coins from chest on right side. Go to back of basin and start up the stone steps. Grab rope to cross basin and land on opposite bank. At top, you see another dam. climb down rope into basin - kill 3 creatures. Climb up other rope, and go to dam. Throw lever to raise the water. Objective Complete - Raise water level Climb up ladder next to dam, then down next ladder. Step across water on wooden platforms to other side. When on the other side, climb down the stone steps to the whirlpool basin. Step onto the first board. Jumping towards the center, jump to the next board when it is in range. Continue until you reach the center-most platform and jump onto the rope. Climb the rope up onto the platform. Jump platforms to the other side. You discover the light is coming from three Trolls at a campfire! Objective Complete - Investigate Light Go to your left and get all the goodies. Then go to right and get all the goodies but do not go into the clearing yet. Come back to pedestal and save your game. Then go to your right up to the clearing. A troll is here. Get past first Troll by waiting for him to walk away from the opening and then sprint your way across. As you continue on, the next troll goes to the next clearing. Wait for him to finish scratching his back on the rock nearest you and walk away - you sprint to the first rock across the clearing. The Troll is now scratching his back on another rock near you. wait for him to walk back to the first rock and you go sprint to the next rock. A Troll sits sleeping near the path. You must sneak (pull & hold Left trigger) past this troll to a rock inthe path. Jump on the rocks and across the pillars. Many of these will require long-jumping (pull Left trigger and press A). Once you reach the last pillar and are back on the ground, you will save your game. Then proceed to next troll who yawns a lot. Sneak past him (using Left Trigger) whilst he yawns. At next scene, a Troll paces back and forth while another sits near the wallet you are to steal. Proceed from rock to rock when the Troll has his back to you. When you near the troll by the wallet, sneak to the wallet when the pacing Troll is walking away from you. Get the wallet! Objective Complete - Investigate Light END LEVEL - Buy items =================================================== Level 3: Troll-Hole =================================================== Objectives: Required- Find the Troll Cave Required- Find the Troll Key Required- Retrieve Healing Draught and return to Lianna the Elf Optional- Start out down the path to your left between the logs. A pack of 3 wolves awaits you as you near the clearing at the end. You will likely need to use 1 health potion. Defeat the wolves and open the chest to the right and down a pathway to get another health potion. Climb the cliffs at the end of the clearing and talk to Gloin. Learn you need to find a "key" which will open the Troll Cave. Long jump across to the cliff ledges across from Gloin to get to the large diamond-looking gem and Chest. Climb back up the cliffs to get back to Gloin. Climb the cliff ledges to Gloin's left and make your way up to a hole. Inside the hole, note that there are two sets of two light-coloured bumps on the wall, the first set on the left, and another set a bit further down on the right. Go through the hole, but keep to the wall OPPOSITE these light-coloured bumps - they are outlets for trick spears which shoot out when you go by them! At the other end of the tunnel you come to a pool. Defeat the two frog-like creatures, then climb the first rope and quickly jump to the mushroom (this is a timed rope - limited time before it disappears and then regrows). From the mushroom, jump to the pillar and get gems. Go back to the ground. Go to the opposite end of the pool and (grab 3 mushrooms in back corner if needed. Climb the next rope. Jump to the third rope, and jump the pillars to the next cave opening. Jump the mushroom and then to the ground. Go into the next cave. Defeat the four creatures, and look everywhere for coins & Gems - they are scattered and hidden everywhere in this cave. Open the chest. Jump onto the cliffs along the left side and get 4 mushrooms. Take cliffs to back of cave and go into next section of cavern. On the ground of the next section, note the lines of holes across the mud floor. You must jump these - they are spears which shoot upwards if you walk over them! Once past these you find Lianna the Elf, who is injured. She asks you to retrieve her healing draught from the next chamber, but there is a large "Guardian" creature in there also. To defeat the creature, systematically destroy one of the mini-creatures which enrages it and causes it to rear up on its hind legs. Hit the large creature while it is in this stance and it takes approximately a third of it's health away. Repeat this process until it is defeated (three times total). There are many mushrooms in this chamber should you need to replenish health at any time. The Healing Draught is on the cliffs to the left of the chamber where you also see a large green mushroom. Retrieve it and go back to Lianna. She is grateful to you and gives you a Witch-King Crystal to get into the Troll Cave with. Objective Complete - Retrieve Healing Draught and return to Lianna the Elf Now you must get past the serpent creatures on the right side of the chamber. It is best not to even try to fight them. you can go through the middle between both of the "flocks" and get by them. On the back side of the chamber behind them you find an empty pedestal. Place the crystal there by pressing X and then A when prompted. This activates a floating platform which you climb on to get across the gap. Jump off at the other side. Follow the tunnel until you reach a fork, where you can go left or right. A creature will likely approach you here - destroy it easily. The left tunnel is very short. You must jump another line of holes on the floor (pop-up stakes) - use the right side as left side has horizontal stakes too. Get the several goodies at the end of this tunnel and return to the fork. The right tunnel takes you to more creatures, another line of holes on the floor (pop-up stakes) and several goodies along the way. But then, you come to ANOTHER fork in the tunnel. The right tunnel of this second fork takes you to a set of ropes at a falls (which you could actually see when you were down in the chamber). Climb down the rope to get to several goodies including a chest with health potion in it. Climb the rope back up (the rope retracts as you go, so be quick) and jump to next rope to get back on the landing. Go back to the fork in the tunnel and now continue down the other side of the fork. This takes you back to the outdoors on a cliff ledge. Grab the mushrooms to your left and ascend the cliff wall via the roots. Follow the ledge to another cave. Watch for more pop-out horizontal stakes. Go all the way to the cavern and note the Troll Key is in here. You will fight more creatures as you approach the stream. Make your way upstream to the falls. Jump onto the first platform (closest) and then make your way towards one of two places - either to the other side of the stream, or towards the falls. If you go to the falls, you can grab the rope in front of it and make your way into a tunnel. In this tunnel you defeat a spider and get Expert Rock Throwing skills. You can't break the web, so come back out of the tunnel/waterfalls on foot and jump your way to the other side of the stream from the ground. On the other side of the stream, go up the tunnel to your right and get the goodies up to the web you were at. One of these goodies is another Witch King Crystal. Come back out of the tunnel and defeat the three creatures. Progress to the green stream/falls and jump up via the cliff steps. At the top, you will have to defeat several mini-creatures. Get all the goodies here and then come back to the save pedestal. Next to it is an empty pedestal where you will place the Witch-King Crystal. This activates the moving platforms. Climb the rope to the pedestals and walk/jump your way across the moving platforms. After you navigate three platforms, you will have to long jump the remaining three platforms to the platform with the Troll Key. Objective Completed - Find the Troll Key Jump back from the Key platform to the last moving Platform. From this moving platform, jump to the cave opening behind the rope. Navigate down the tunnel and past two horizontal pop-out stakes. You will reach a gap with a rope, clear the gap. Continue until you reach the outdoors again. Long Jump to the opposite cliff ledge. Climb up and find the Troll Cave! Objective Completed - Find the Troll Cave END LEVEL - Buy Items =================================================== Level 4: Over Hill and Under Hill =================================================== Objectives: Required- Fix the Gold machine Required- Find the large Gold Gear Required- Find the medium Gold Gear Required- Find the small Gold Gear Required- Find the Gold Shank Arm Required- Find the Gold shank Head Required- Fix the Copper machine Required- Find the large Copper Gear Required- Find the medium Copper Gear Required- Find the small Copper Gear Required- Find the Copper Shank Arm Required- Find the Copper Shank Head Required- Fix the Metallic machine Required- Find the large Metallic Gear Required- Find the medium Metallic Gear Required- Find the small Metallic Gear Required- Find the Metallic Shank Arm Required- Find the Metallic Shank Head Optional- Talk to Bofur about campfire Optional- Get firewood for Bofur Find Bofur trying to make a campfire. Talk to him. Objective Complete- Talk to Bofur about campfire Follow the mountain path down to the end where you find the firewood. The ledge drops from under you and you slide down to a landing. Defeat the four wolves in the clearing. Then proceed to save pedestal and make your way across the stream to the other side. Long-jump to the first platform. From there, you can take either the high path or the low one (or both) - your choice. The low path takes you down to the front of the lower waterfall. Do not go over the falls on foot or you die. Use the ropes to climb down and get the goodies below, then climb back up. NOTE - you can walk around the stream between the waterfalls. To get back on the platforms, walk to the lower step at the base of the platform you start on. The high path takes you to the front of the upper waterfall. Climbing the ropes here, you can get into a hidden tunnel in front of the first rope. When you jump and catch the rope, just jump again into the falls and you get the tunnel. Defeat the three serpents with your walking stick and open the chests. Get out the same way you came in. Now you can jump the cliffs to your right as you exit the tunnel. This takes you to a huge gem. Start back on the platforms again and make your way to the other side of the stream. Once on the other side, there are two hidden ledges over the edge of the cliff where you can get gems. You can also move the block on the path up to the wall and get on above ledges to open two chests. Use the rope to get to the other ledges and paths. You can also jump off the second of two hidden ledges to get over to a rope with a really large gem. Climb to the top of the rope in order to have enough height before jumping back. Continue down the path and use the ropes to get to ledges. Continue to another save pedestal. Shortly beyond here you encounter the stone creatures. They hurl boulders at you as you near them. Simply go down the path quickly enough that you don't die from all the impacts. NOTE - you can tell where the stones will hit by looking for the shadow(s) on the ground. There are several mushrooms to supplant your health along the way. You will also encounter two wolves part way down the path. Eventually you get to three ropes in a row. These first two (darker colored) are timed ropes - you can only be on them for a short period before they disappear. Quickly jump from rope to rope to get to the other side. The last rope is not timed. You follow the path to another save pedestal. There is a stone pillar ahead and to the left. Stand near it and the stone creatures will hurl rocks at you and ultimately knock the pillar over creating a bridge for you. Remember to look for the shadow(s) on the ground to know when the rocks are coming. Cross the pillar. You can either work your way around the landing here until a rock hits the stone pillar in the center making an exit for you, or you can climb the rope and jump your way to the next ledge and tunnel. Either way takes you into an area where there is a stone bridge. The stone bridge collapses in the center where the gems are. If you long-jump, you can avoid landing in the wolf pit below. If you do end up going into teh wolf pit, fight your way out to the outside landing and try again. You progress to another save pedestal on the other side of the bridge. Walk the outer ring to get to a tunnel. Fight the wolves outside it. You will see a pillar with a gem atop it. Behind this is a dark circle rock area - when you step on it, a dialogue plays saying "The floor looks very thin". This is to clue you to stand there for a moment until you see a shadow indicating a rock is going to hit. when the rock hits, a movie plays showing that a hole has opened. Clear the outside area and then go into the hole. Defeat the little creatures that greet you. Then follow the tunnel to a cavern. You must defeat several little creatures here too, then check out the other tunnel where a rope is hanging. Climb the rope and progress forward. It leads you to a chest where you get a better Jump Attack. Return to the cavern again and take the tunnel which leads outside again. You fight several wolves and see that lightning takes out the path ahead. Take the tunnel to the Left of where the path starts. It leads you into an underground city-like place. In the room, you spot a thing/spot that "looks like it's missing some parts". Proceed to the other side of the room and exit the doorway. The door seals behind you. Defeat the small creatures and get the Gold Shank Head off the ledge. Objective Complete - Find the Gold Shank Head Climb the rope to get atop the pillars. Going one direction takes you to a save game pedestal on a pillar. For now, go the other way to get to a cliff-ledge where you find the Gold Shank Arm. Objective Complete - Find the Gold Shank Arm Take the pillars back to the Save Game Pedestal. Jump pillars to another set of ropes and take the ropes to a nearby ledge where you find the medium Gold Gear. Objective Complete - Find the medium Gold Gear From here, jump to the right side rope, and navigate the ledges to another pillar where you can jump to a cave opening. At the end of this tunnel is the small Gold Gear. Objective Complete - Find the small Gold Gear Navigate the pillars ntil you reach the opposite upper ledge. Here you fing the large Gold Gear, and see a scene of the door to the room opening back up. Objective Complete - Find the large Gold Gear Follow the tunnel back to the room, and place all Gold objects back into the machine. A door opens up to your right. Objective Complete - Fix the Gold Machine Go through your new door, and you end up in the old Drawf mines (strange, I don't remember THIS in The Hobbit book). Navigate to the next Save Pedestal at the steps. Progress on and you find a Copper Shank Arm. Objective Complete- Find Copper Shank Arm Ahead and to the right on a wall is a lever - operate the lever to cause a step to activate. Climb the step to find a the medium Copper Gear to the left. NOTE - it is possible, but not necessary, to climb the rocks here to get atop the stone pillars for more gems. Objective Complete- Find medium Copper Gear Climb back down and long-jump to the rock pedestal ledge out in front of you. Here you will find the Copper Shank Head. Jump back. Objective Complete- Find the Copper Shank Head continue on to your left. Straight ahead, on the landing between an upper and lower staircase, you find the Large Copper Gear. Objective Complete- Find large Copper Gear Climb the upper staircase to the top. To your right and on a ledge you find the small Copper Gear. Objective Complete- Find small Copper Gear Climb back down. Progress straight ahead to finally find the machine for which you have been collecting all the parts for. Press X and start adding all the components to the machine to lower the drawbridge. Objective Complete- Fix the Copper machine Cross the drawbridge. Go to your right to find a Save Pedestal. Further on you find a Metallic Shank Arm on a ledge to the left. Objective Complete- Find Metallic Shank Arm Proceed back to save pedestal and go the opposite direction, and down stairs to a landing. In the right corner you find the medium Metallic Gear. Objective Complete- Find medium Metallic Gear Climb back up the steps, and move the rock from ahead to the stone pillar near the wall to your right. climb rock and jump onto pillar. Open chest to get another poison antidote vial. Climb back down. Go to the opposite wall straight ahead. Jump up and catch the wall top - pull yourself up. You find the large Metallic Gear here. You can optionally climb up top of wall and jump to platform where a gold chest is. Open it for large sums of cash, but this is a tough one with the maximum puzzles to beat. Objective Complete- Find large Metallic Gear Climb carefully back down and get to landing where you moved the rock in front of the stone pillar. Jump across to the left of the short wall you climbed up. Continue jumping on until you eventually get to the other side. Here you find the small Metallic Gear. Objective Complete- Find small Metallic Gear Turn around to look back from whence you came. There is a landing to your left - jump over to the landing on the left. There is a lever there - pull the lever and an opening presents itself. You find the Metallic Shank Head in here. Also in here is another lever which lifts a stone wall to make a gap smaller and able to be jumped. Objective Complete- Find Metallic Shank Head Come out of opening, and go to your left. Jump across to other side and walk to area where gap was made smaller - jump across. Go all the way to your right and you find the Metallic machine you've been collecting parts for. Add the parts to machine to open another drawbridge which leads to a tunnel. Objective Complete- Fix the Metallic machine Follow tunnel to another cavern area and Save Pedestal. Jump down to landing and defeat the many little creatures. Acquire the Troll Key near the door. Open the door with this key (pad on right). Go to the ned of the tunnel and climb down the rope into the hole in the floor. You arrive at another save pedestal. Proceed down this tunnel to the outside paths. Follow the path to the ropes, climb the ropes to the opposite ledge. At the other side, you find Gandalf. Follow the path back to the cave. Goblins appear and you fight them off with Gandalf. Proceed out of the cave back to the others. Give Bofur his firewood. Objective Complete- Get Firewood for Bofur END LEVEL - Buy Items =================================================== Level 5: Riddles In The Dark =================================================== Objectives: Required- Exit Caves Required- Extend Bridge Required- Lower Bridge Required- Bribe guard to open gate Required- Go To Jail Required- Talk to Balfor Required- Hit Cell Door Switch Required- Free Balfor Required- Find the Wart Stone Required- Activate Wart-Lift Required- Find Key for Mugg-Lift Required- Activate Mugg-Lift Required- Find Key for Grit-Lift Required- Activate Grit-Lift Required- Find Key for Dim-Lift Required- Activate Dim-Lift Required- Take Wart Lever to Wart-Lift Optional- Proceed through the small gap in the rocks. As you approach the flying creatures, arm your throwing rocks. You will need to take out two(2) of them. With the creatures out of the way, jump the rock pillars to the other side. Here you must take out a serpent or two. Take out the first one easiest with a jump attack using your walking stick. You may be able to just run/jump by the others. You come to a save pedestal near a gap in the path. A rope hangs here also. Clear the gap using the rope to pick up two more poison antidote vials. You can't go any further, so come back to the gap and climb down the rope. Go down the steps to the bottom of the cave. Arm your sword! Cut through all the webs and kill all the spiders. The green spiders can poison you so watch for that and use your antidote(s) and health vial(s) when needed. A door is revealed but it is locked. Climb the rope to a rock ledge. Take the tunnel to the end and destroy the large spider. Then come back down the tunnel to the point where you see a rock on the right side. Jump up to the ledge and follow this new tunnel. You come to a gap with a rope. Also pick up an antidote vial. Jump to the first rope. Jump to the next rope. Jump to the third rope. Jump to the ledge opening of the next tunnel. Arm your sword and cut through the webs. Follow the tunnel to its end and climb down the rope. You are now on the opposite side of that locked door you found! Proceed down the tunnel. You come to another Save Pedestal at the scene of a Goblin work area. You see a dwarf named Balfor. You talk to him and he tells you how you can free him. NOTE - you can break the boxes in the cave for Silver Pennies! Exit this cavern to the right of the jail. Climb down the ledges to the goblins working in the pit below. Take out the two goblins and proceed to the next Save Pedestal. You are now in the Goblin mines. You see where the gate keeper (whom you must bribe) is. Climb to the floor by using the contraption on your right. Jump onto a platform and jump onto the next platform of the machine below this one. Jump to the floor. Defeat the goblins that greet you here - about four of them. To your right is a lower platform you reach by taking the ladder. Defeat the goblin and open the chest. Climb back up ladder to main landing. Walk to the Right side of the main landing and get onto the wooden platform. Watch out for the goblin throwing explosives at you. You can take him out with throwing stones if you feel you must. There will be a lever on your left after you go down to the next platform. Pull the lever to extend the bridge. Objective complete - Extend bridge Come back up platforms and fight the two goblins at the end. Cross the bridge you just extended. Fight the goblins and proceed to the save pedestal. Climb the rotating platforms. Optionally take the 3 routes available off second rotating platform for more goodies, but you need only navigate to the third to get as high as possible and jump onto upper landing. Defeat the two goblins at the upper landing, and proceed down path. You see a bridge scene with a goblin working next to a barrel of explosives. You need to get this bridge down, and the barrels are the way to do it. Move the barrel on your side of the gap off it's platform and your half of the bridge goes down. Cross the bridge to the end and shoot a rock at the red barrel by the goblin worker and his side of the bridge comes down. Objective Complete- Lower Bridge Defeat the goblin on the other side and proceed to a Save Game Pedestal. Use the rotating platforms to get to the lower landing. On the lower landing, you can optionally go to the right and open a chest on upper wooden ledge. Proceed to left to defeat several goblins (two large w/shields and 3 smaller) and get to the next save pedestal. Slide down the ladder and talk to the jail guard. He tells you to get the Wart Stone and fix the Wart Lift - if you bring him the Wart Stone he'll open the gate. Climb back up the ladder, and you see another ladder has magically appeared directly ahead of you, which you can use to climb to the wooden gantry. Take Gantry to the rotating platforms. Ride platform to the gantry below and take the ladder to the ground below and circle back to panel where lever should be. A movie scene shows you that you need to get the Wart-Lift Lever and where the lever is. Take the ladder back up to the gantry and ride the rotating platforms up to the top and jump to the chain ropes above. Take the chains to the stone ledge. A tunnel is in the wall on the left. In the tunnel you find the Mugg-Lift Key. Continue to end of tunnel. Defeat the goblin at the end of the tunnel, and activate the Mugg-Lift via the panel and using the key you found. Objective complete- Find Key for Mugg-Lift Objective complete- Activate the Mugg-Lift Ride the Mug-Lift to the top platform. To the right is the Grit-Lift. To the left you walk the wood gantry and come to a cave with a goblin. Defeat the goblin and get the Grit Key in the cave. Return to the Grit-Lift and activate the Grit-Lift with the Grit Key. Objective complete- Find Key for Grit-Lift Objective complete- Activate the Grit-Lift Ride Grit-Lift to other side of cavern. Get off and go to your left and go to another cave with two goblins. Defeat the goblins and get the Dim-Lift key. Leave cave and go to your right and make your way to some stone ledges. Enter a cave with four goblins. Defeat them and go down the ladder at the far side of the caves. This takes you to the Dim-Lift. Activate the Dim-Lift with your key. Objective complete- Find Key for Dim-Lift Objective complete- Activate the Dim-Lift Ride Dim-Lift to other side of cavern. Get off and go to your left and go to a Save Pedestal. Just beyond is the Wart-Lift Lever. Grab the chain rope at end of platform and you glide to other side. Objective complete- Find Wart-Lift Lever climb down to the stone ledge and activate the Wart-Lift. Climb back up and ride platforms to top gantry. Walk to other side and Climb ladder down to stone landing. Defeat two goblins and ride Wart-Lift to other side. Objective complete- Activate Wart-Lift Defeat the goblin and walk stone path to the mini-lift on the other end. Ride the three lifts to the upper landing. Climb up to the upper gantries and go into the cave. Defeat the goblin and open the chest to get the Wart Stone. Objective complete- Find the Wart Stone Return to landing and cross the three wooden bridges. Defeat the goblin on the far side. Climb down over ledge onto wooden ledges below. cross to end where a chest is. Open the chest, then drop down to stone ledge with Save Pedestal. You are back in front of the jail guard area. Climb down to the jail and give the guard the Wart Stone he asked for. He opens the gate and fights you. Defeat him and continue into the cave. Climb the ladder at the end and navigate the wooden platforms to the top and you find the Goblin jails and a Save Pedestal. Sneak across the Jailroom to Balfor's cell. Talk to Balfor and he tells you how to open the jail cells by a lever on the wall. That lever is guarded by a Goblin on the upper gantries. Objective Complete - Go to Jail Objective Complete - Talk to Balfor The Cell-Door switch is on the wall to the left of the cave entrance. Sneak to it and hit the switch. Balfor immediately comes out and takes up his Axe from the wall by his cell. All goblins are immediately eliminated. Balfor explains he had to do this for honor, then tells you the means by which you can escape (lower tunnel). Before leaving, go over to the section of the cave with a stone ledge in the wall. Jump on the small box and jump up to the ledge. Use throwing stones to hit a lever directly across from you. It drops a hinged ladder on the upper gantry to the floor below directly across from the entrance. Climb down from the cliff ledge, and make your way to the ladder (across from the entrance). On the upper gantries, there are three paths to caves. In one of these caves there is two chests and a lever which opens the small jail by the entrance. There is also a key on a table here which you won't be able to get until later. In a second path there is a chest where you can get expert stick-fighting skills. In the third path is also a chest. Come back down and make your way down the tunnel Balfor spoke of. Climb up to the upper cave. Take the Mine Car and press X when you come to directional signs. If you hit them all properly you will come put at the bottom. Walk into the cavern below. Climb up the stone steps and you find the infamous ring! END LEVEL - Buy stuff =================================================== Level 6: Flies and Spiders =================================================== Objectives: Required- Find the Dwarves Required- Rescue the Dwarves Required- Escape from the Spider Lair Required- Burn away the thick web Required- Find Oil Required- Use Oil on Campfire Required- Open the Cemetary Gate Required- Find the Red Urn Required- Find the Blue Urn Required- Find the Yellow Urn Optional- Find a memento for Corwin Climb the rope to the rock passage. Cross into the area with the three spitting venus flytrap looking plants. Get the chest on the right side, defeat the plants and continue on. climb on the root, and take the left branch. Enter another area with a spittijng plant. Defeat the plant and cut the web hiding a set of steps. Climb the steps and find Dori's Helmet. Drop into the next area. Fight the spiders which enter from the right nest area. Cut the web on the far side to reveal the next area with several poison spiders. Defeat them and cut the next web to reveal a nasty bog. Jump across using the ropes - the first one is timed so be quick. If you land in the bog, it is poisonous so quickly use your antidote. A Save Pedestal is on the other side. As you near the stream, you invoke the evil spirit minions of the Necromancer. The easiest and safest way to dispose of them is to climb onto the tree root to your left near the stream. Arm your throwing rocks and take them out one at a time (total of 3). As you run out of stones, more will appear to your left between you and the stream. Quickly jump down and get them, then jump back up. When you are done disposing of the spirits, get the mushrooms ahead of you, then save your game at the Save Pedestal. A rotten tree branch was shown to you when you disposed of the last spirit. Knock it down by throwing a rock at it. It loges downstream a bit where you can now cross on it. On opposite side of the stream, go to the left side and find a ledge you can get up on. This is how you get to the upper levels you saw on the other side. You can navigate back across the bog and find get the Expert Sword Fighting Skills near where you found Dori's Helmet (up on a branch above the clearing). Return to the stream and cross once again. This time go to the back-right and fight a few more spitting plants. Climb the ropes over the rock wall and find a camp and a Save Pedestal. Looking around the camp, you see a man grieving ahead on the left. As you approach him, a movie plays showing a dialogue between yourself and Corwin - a man from the Laketown. He explains that this camp was his group's, and all his friends were killed by the Spiders. However, the spiders took away several wriggling silk sacks through the web ahead. If you use oil, you can burn your way through the web and check out the Spider Lair to determine if the sacks were the Dwarves. A tunnel is ahead and on your left. Take the tunnel to the end. Don't jump off the ledge just yet. There are several spitting plants (about 10) in the distance. You can use throwing rocks to eliminate them. 3 hits takes one out. If you have the patience, you can keep going back to the stream where the rocks replenish every minute or so, and come back and take out a plant. Otherwise, jump into the cluster and swing away making sure you get out and take a health potion as necessary. After clearing the plants out, climb the rope to the top of the wall. You are overlooking several scary looking pillars. You must navigate the ravine by jumping onto the correct rising pillars. As you jump on one, the others will raise/lower. Choose the next pillar to jump on and the raising/lowering happens again. The path I took brought me all the way to the right, then forward, then left and forward and out. A save pedestal exists on the other side. Save and move down to the next ledge. You can open the chest to your right. Move down to the floor and get mushrooms. Move forward and the floor literally falls out from underneath you. A rock is near the wall holding back the flood of water. You must move it and quickly get on the log behind you. This part was made WAY too difficult for my liking, so be prepared to get horribly frustrated. From the log, once risen all the way up, you can take two paths. You can long-jump to the opposite side of the pond where there is a camp. Or you can jump to the right and catch a timed rope, then jump to the next rope and jump to the ledge. Then you would jump back to the rope and down to the log again and go to the opposite bank and campsite. At the camp, go to the back and destroy the spiders. Destroy any webs you can and destroy any and all spiders who are released. Open the golden chest to get the Oil you need for Cowin's campsite. Objective Complete- Find Oil On the left side of the camp, there is a tunnel which takes you down to a cavern. Here you battle a really long-surviving spider, but once defeated you can get a ring from the ledges above (the memento for Corwin - you will give it to him later). There are two chests here also, but the rewards (coins and 1 each health and antidote potions), in my opinion, aren't really worth their difficulty and loss of health you face in opening them - you're call here. On the right side of the camp, there is two steps and a path which bring you back to Corwin's Campsite. Give Corwin the ring you found - it belonged to his brother and is a family Heirloom. Objective Complete- Give Corwin a Memento Go to the campfire by the web andapply the oil to it. It burns away the spider web which was blocking your path. Objective Complete- Use Oil on Campfire Objective Complete- Burn away the thick web Climb the rope and go down the newly opened path. Fight the six spiders in the next area - three large non-poisonous and 3 small poisonous. Be sure to cut the web in the corner and get the super-mushroom. Open the chest to get a health potion. Climb the rope by the falls and go into the tunnel. Long-jump the gap to the other tunnel. Cut the web and defeat the three poisonous spiders, and continue to a Save Pedestal. Navigate the ropes and stone pillars to the opposite side with the Save Pedestal. Go through the tunnel and come out to a landing with a hoarde of mushrooms. There will be five evil spirits which apparate. Two of the five shoot at you (one on the ground behind you, the other on the wall) - defeat them first using your sword. Then use throwing rocks to defeat the other three. You can pick up Fire Throwing rocks by the wall and jump onto the short root and use them quickly - three hits with these will kill a spirit. More spirits will apparate as you get down to the last original spirit. One of them will be the kind that shoot at you. Watch your health closely and use a potion when you need to - this level is pretty nasty. Get the shooter spirit on the wall, and come back and get throwing rocks from the center area and jump on the long root this time. Defeat the remaining spirits using throwing rocks - replenish from the center area as needed. Two more shooters will appear again as you defeat the last spirit here - use your sword and watch your health! Climb the wall and immediately race to the Save Pedestal because you will AGAIN fight more of these stupid Spirits and you DON'T want to die and start in the PREVIOUS section! Immediately fight the two shooting spirits by sword, then grab the fire rocks and mushrooms in the back right corner. Jump on the wall OFF CENTER AND STAY NEAR THE FRONT OF THE WALL and kill the three remaining spirits. Go back to the bog and wait for the floating wooden raft. Jump on and ride it to the back of the bog where a gate entrance is. Note that it looks like three obects need to be placed here to make the gate work. The objects needed are color coded the same as the shelves - Red, Blue and Yellow. Take the raft again and jump back off at the next island. Here you acquire the yellow Urn. Objective Complete- Find the Yellow Urn Get on the raft again and now jump off at the first island nearest the shoreline by the Save pedestal (rope hangs over it). Grab the rope and jump onto the branch. Jump from the outer limb to the rope at the end and then to the next branch. Get the chest at the end of the path and on your way back stop at the tree and get the next rope. This rope takes you to another rope/mini branch. In the cubby next to it, you get the Blue Urn. Objective Complete- Find the Blue Urn Return to the island and jump on the raft again. This time go to the shore behind the Save Pedestal. Get the rope and climb to the top of the rock. Long Jump from the branch to the next pillar and then take the rope to the next branch. In the cubby you find the Red Urn. Objective Complete- Find the Red Urn Return to the raft once more and go back to the Gate. Now place the Urns on the shelves in the proper order - Red, Blue and Yellow. The gate opens. Go through. Objective Complete- Open the Cemetary Gate When you enter the cemetary, you wake the Wright spirit and a few of his cronies. Two of these cronies shoot at you, as well as the Wright. Kill the other two shooting spirits, and then DO NOT take out the non-shooting spirit with the Wright. If you do, it triggers two more shooting spirits to apparate. Always get the mushrooms when they appear, and they do re-appear after a bit of time. Navigate around (you can jump to gain speed over the spirits) to get the Wright between you and the other spirit. Wait for the Wright to take a swing at you, then get out of the way. Come back while he is trying to collect himself and let him have it a few times. Repeat until the Wright is destroyed. With the Wright destroyed, destroy any remaining spirits and get mushrooms to fill health. Go through the newly opened gate and go to the Save Pedestal. Fight the spiders in the left branch of the path. Continue cuting webs and fighting spiders until you come to another Save Pedestal. Remember, you can always go back to the cemetary and get the reappearing mushrooms if you need health. At the last Save Pedestal, be sure to get the mushroom from behind the web, then proceed up the ropes. Keep navigating up until you get to a branch with a golden chest. Open this to get Expert Sword Fighting Skills (press & hold X to do a spin move). Go back to the rope and let it pull you up to the next branch. This branch leads you to a hollowed out tree trunk with a rope in it. Climb this rope to the top where another Save Pedestal awaits. Open the chest, then make your way back to the log tunnel. Enter the tunnel and you slide all the way back to the ground. Another Save Pedestal is here, along with a chest. Cut the web and defeat the poison spiders. Continue on and cut another web releasing a boat-load of spiders, both poisonous and non-poisonous. Open a golden chest here. Cut the next web and prepare to fight another slew of spiders. The next web after this gets you to a Save Pedestal. A chest is here which will replenish some of your health and antidote potions. Behind the chest is some mushrooms. Climb the tree root which takes you into a tunnel which appears to be a spider route. You end up in the Spider's Lair. You need to rescue the Dwarves who hang suspended in silk sacks from the ceiling of the cave. Objective Complete- Find the Dwarves Defeat the Spiders and get the mushrooms which reappear at various points around the cave. Look at the stone ledges and locate those with a sack next to them - I think three. Some of these must be reached by sliding across the cavern from one pillar to the other. Get all the sacks and then get out. Note more spiders are released each time you free any Dwarves. Objective Complete- Rescue the Dwarves With all Dwarves freed, you are left to challenge the Spider Queen and her two sisters. They will also be surrounded by many smaller soiders. Use your sword and always defeat the little spiders first before taking on the large one. Move around constantly to avoid their attacks. Then, with the little spiders out of the wy, you can concentrate on the big spider. The first two large spiders (sisters of the Queen Spider) are able to be defeated fairly easily by using the Fire Rocks which appear and continue to reappear on the floor. Grab the fire rocks, jump onto a stone ledge, and lob them at the large spider. When you are out of rocks and waiting for more to reappear, wait in the safety of one of the rock ledges and grab the fire rocks as soon as they reapper, then get back on the ledge and throw some more. Repeat this strategy for the second large spider. The third large spider, the Queen herself, is not quite as easy. You no longer get fire rocks, only freeze rocks. Kill all the little spiders first. Then use the freeze rocks to solidify the Queen Spider, and immediately thrash her with your sword. You will see her health go down little by little as you repeat this process over and over (freeze, thrash, freeze, thrash). With the queen defeated, you are now able to leave the cave and make your way out. Your friends are being held inside, in the King's Stockade. You must get inside and talk to Balin. All the paths are heavily guarded, so you must find some other way in. Go to your right towards the Save Pedestal. There is a rock pillar in the stream here, and you jump to it. Climb the rope and jump to the upper rock ledges. When the coast is clear, Climb the rope down to the ground and quickly go behind the tree. There is a path next to this tree. From behind the tree, wait for the coast to be clear and take the path up just a bit and go back to the right (essentially going to the top of the ledge that was behind you when you were at the tree). Go towards the cliff ledge and find another rope. Before you climb this rope, note the tiny ledge in the cliff. Jump to this ledge and you grab onto it. Shimmy to the cliff ledge and get the throwing rocks. Walk to the opposite ledge and you grab again. Shimmy to the next ledge and open the chest for a Health potion. Drop back to the ground. Climb the rope, and jump to the next rope (next to a small horseshoe shaped hill). Jump onto the hill and walk to the other end and pick up WillowWeed. Get the next rope and jump to the next and jump onto the cliff. Climb up one step and get the Big Blue Gem. Objective Complete- Find WillowWeed Objective Complete- Find Deep Cellar Key 1 (Blue Gem) To the right is a ledge in front of a door. Jump to the ledge and go through the door. It leads to a tunnel, which is blocked at the end by a web. You cannot pass without the proper item(s), which you do not have yet. So go back up the tunnel and out the door. Go to your right, back to the stone ledges. Continue to the ground and go behind the tree to where an Elf guards the entrance. Sneak up behind the elf and pick up the gems here. The X symbol appears as you near the pedestal behind the Elf. DO NOT DO THIS YET! Eventually, you will come back here and press X to open the Elf Kingdom Entrance. But first, against all of your better judgement (if you've read all the Tolkien books), you must use the Ring here to make yourself invisible to the elves. Put on the ring (press BLACK) and go across the entrance path and to the other side. Follow the grass to a plateau with a Save Pedestal. Just past the Save Pedestal you collect the second Deep Cellar Key. Objective Complete- Find Deep Cellar Key 3 (Blue Gem) From the Save Pedestal, jump across to the lower ledge and follow it around, drpo to the next ledge and jump to the rope. Climb up enough to get to the upper level across from you with the gems. Get the gems, and jump back to the rope and jump back to the upper ledge above the one you were on. Jump the ledges back towards the Save Pedestal. You can optionally long-jump to the rope, but be warned, the camera doesn't work well from here on out. Jump to the ledge, then the next rope and jump to the ledge with gems. Follow the same route to come back. Long-Jump to the ledge across from you. Jump to the next ledge and then grab the finger-ledge and shimmy across to the next ledge. Jump to the next ledge and a mini-pedestal is here. You will need an Elvish Opening Crystal to open this gate. The other end is inside the kingdom. We'll come back to this after we get the crystal. Lianna greets you (the Elf whose life you saved earlier). She explains that she knows you and your friends (the Dwarves) mean no harm. She tells you about the three Opening Crystals you will need to open the Deep Cellar and free the Dwarves. They are close to the King himself, and you must retrieve them without being seen, as none of the other Elves will be friendly. Put the Ring on (press BLACK) and run towards the throne. Cross the bridge, pick up the Red Opening crystal, and jump up the steps to the left of the throne. Here, you will walk into the small stream which takes you down to the larger stream. Go downstream, under the bridge, and all the way to the other side. Objective Complete- Find the Opening Crystal 2 (Red Ball) Climb to the rock ledge on the left, then back into the water to the rock pillar in the stream. Here you pick up the third Opening Crystal. Objective Complete- Find the Opening Crystal 3 (Red Ball) Jump to the rope and to the far ledge and pick up a huge Courage Gem. Come back up the stream and stop before coming out into the open. Put the ring on again, go up to the left edge of the stream, climb up and dart back to your Save Pedestal. Put the ring on again, go across the bridge and up the steps on the left, and this time jump across the small stream and go to the rope at the end of the path. Climb the rope, jump onto the ledge and go RIGHT to the bridge, cross it and go to the Save Pedestal. Go back across the bridge, and to your right (note ahead here is where you will put the Opening Crystals). Jump the two ropes and get the last Crystal from the ledge. Jump to the rope and navigate the pillars to obtain the Moonleaf. Objective Complete- Find the Opening Crystal 1 (Red Ball) Objective Complete- Find Moonleaf Go back to the Opening Pedestals across form the bridge. Place Crystal 1 in pillar 1, Crystal 2 in pillar2, and so on. With all Crystals in palce, you must now move the stone blocks onto their appropriate pad. Match the top of the blocks to the top of the pads. With all blocks in place, the Stockade Door opens. Objective Complete- Open Stockade Door Follow tunnel to the first opening, use your ring to get by these elves and into the next tunnel. At the end of this tunnel, you are in the Stockade room where the dwarves are being held. Use the ring to run to the end of this room and climb a ladder on the right side. At the top you run back to the front of this upper landing and find a Save Pedestal. Here is where Balin is being kept. You talk to him and he tells you he suspects there is running water down the tunnel at the end of the lower level of this room. The tunnel opening is next to the ladder you climbed up. Objective Complete- Find The Dwarves Use the ring to get back down to the lower level and exit the Stockade room via the tunnle near the ladder. You progress to yet another opening where there is a Save Pedestal, and two tunnel exits - one closed by a gate. Take the open tunnel and you locate the room where the elves send barrels to LakeTown. Objective Complete- Find An Exit You must return to Balin and tell him what you found. Take the same route and use the same tactics to get back to Balin and tell him what you've found. Upon telling him, Lianna appears and gives you advice on how to get past the guard at the barrel room. You must mix a sleeping draught from three herbs. Two of these have already been found. You must get the third from the Spider Lair you saw at the end of a tunnel in the Courtyard. Lianna gives you a potion to use to get through the web. Objective Complete- Find An Exit Objective Complete- Talk to Balin Take the tunnel by Lianna, and you end up back in the Courtyard outside the Elven Kingdom. Jump to the rope in front of the ledge. It lowers you down to where you can jump onto a ledge. Jump your way back to the ledge where the doorway is (from the ground to the 2 ropes, to the horseshoe shaped mound, to the two ropes, to the cliff ledge, up to the doorway). Go into the tunnel and go to the web. Use the potion Lianna gave you to remove the web, but be prepared to battle a hoarde of poisonous spiders as soon as you remove it. Go into the cave. Just ahead and on the right you find the third Deep Cellar Key (Blue Gem). Objective Complete- Find Deep Cellar Key 4 (Blue Gem) Start out getting all the items you can which aren't behind webs, then get those that are behind webs. For each web you cut which has items behind it, you will get a few more spiders to battle. The SpidersBane potion ingredient is at the very back of the cave, and when you cut that web away, a LARGE group of spiders will descend upon you. Objective Complete- Find SpidersBane Go back out of the Spider's Lair. Return to the Elven Kingdom via the same means you came to be here - go up the long rope on the right side, and you enter the upper cliff and tunnel. Go back and talk to Lianna. She tells you to place the herbs in Galion's Mug to make him drowsey. Go down the tunnel to the barrel room. Galion's mug is straight ahead. Don the ring once more and dart out to his cup. Hit X to add each ingredient. With all three added, you get a movie scene showing your success. Objective Complete- Make Galion Drowsey Return to the Stockade room and talk to Balin. Lianna is there also. Seems now they have another problem - they cannot locate Thorin. Lianna explains that Thorin is being kept in the Deep Cellar, and there is only one way for you to get in there. She leads you to the entrance to the Dark Water Caverns. Enter the tunnel entrance and you slide to the underground caverns. Be prepared to battle the frog creatures therein - two at landing, many others elsewhere in the cavern. A Save Pedestal is to your left. After destroying any threatening frog creatures, make your way to the island behind you. Next to this island is a rock pillar with gems going up the side of it. Climb up the vines on the side of this pillar, then jump to the ledge to your right. You can long jump from this ledge to a vine towards the left side as you face out from the cliff. Jump to the next rope, and then to a pillar. Jump to the ledge on the left with a plant. Hit the plant to get coins. Come back to the top of the ledge with the vines. This time go the opposite side and jump to a rope. Jump to the next rock pillar. Turn to the right and jump to the next rope, then jump to the cliff ledge. Follow the cliff to the end and jump the next two ropes. Turn slightly to face the right and jump to the next cliff ledge. Walk the ledge a little ways and get the next rope, and jump to the second rope and onto the small ledge with an Elvish Opening Cryatal (Blue Ball). Use this later to open that gate in the Courtyard to the left of the Kingdom Entrance. Go back to the Rock Pillar with the vines on the side. Objective Complete- Find the Elvish Opening Crystal 4 (Blue Ball) Jump again to the ledge on the right side. Note the slight rock edge above this ledge. You can jump and hang off this, then shimmy to the left to get next to the rope that hangs close. Jump to the rope, then turn to jump to the ledge at the end of the little ledge you were on. Grab the next little hand ledge and shimmy to the next cliff. Note now that the little ledge is at FOOT level instead of HAND level. Walk the footledge to the next cliff ledge landing. Climb the step. You can long jump back out and get a rope and climb it to a ledge. Come back. Go into the tunnel and you enter a cave. There are several little creatures and a frog creature to dispose of. When you do, a rope lowers giveing you access to another tunnel. Get the mushrooms and hit the plant in the small caver here first. Climb the rope to the next tunnel. The tunnel leads you to another opening which is the upper level of the back part of the original deep waters cavern. A rope is at the front right side of the cliff. This rope will lengthen, lowering you towards the ground. This is OK, because it will stay this way allowing you to get back up now if you falter anywhere in the upper level. Hit this rope NOW, or if you fall, you will have to go back around to the pillar with the vines on it. Jump to the rope, it lengthens, climb up and jump back to the ledge. Now you are safe if you should fall - just climb this rope and get back up. Long Jump to the rope to the left side, then jump to the ledge with the plant. Break the plant for coins. Long jump to the ledge ahead and left with the gems, and jump back. Walk to the end of this ridge to where the chest is and open it. Jump to the rope (timed), and go to the next chest. Then get the next rope (timed) and jump to the little ledge with the big jewel. Jump back to the pillar with the last chest and long-jump to the lower rock island and pick up all the goodies on the lower level, and defeat any creatures here. Follow the path back to your Save Pedestal, and then come back to the lengthened rope and get back to the upper ledge. This time, jump to the rope and jump to the RIGHT side natural bridge. Follow it to the end, and jump to the pillar on the right. Turn to your right and jump to the next higher rock pillar. Turn left and jump to the rope. Climp up the rope and jump to the top of the rock pillar. You are between several ropes now. If you look down ahead, you see a path of gems on the floor leading to a tunnel. We'll go there later. Turn to the rope on your right and jump to it. Then jump to the cliff ledge and get the gems. From this ledge, you will jump to another rope. Climp up on the rope to get high enough to get the next rope, then jump to it. Then jump to the ledge behind with a chest. Come back to the tall center rock pillar. Now we go to that tunnel. Take the other rope opposite the last one you took. Lower some and jump to the rock ledge in front of the tunnel. Follow the tunnel around and you come out at another small rock pillar with a finger ledge to it's right. This is the back side of the same cavern - if you look back across the cavern you can see the beginning of the very tunnel you were just in. Jump to the pillar and then the ledge. Shimmy across the ledge to another cliff. Drop on, and follow it through a mini-tunnel to a set of ropes. Jump the two ropes and climb up to another tunnel opening. This tunnel leads to Thorin's jail cell in the Deep Cellar. As you enter the tunnel, you pick up a third Deep Cellar Key (Blue Gem). Follow it to the Deep Cellar beyond and you find Thorin in jail. Talk to Thorin. Note the Key/Legend on the wall to the left of Thorin's Cell. For positions 1-2-3-4 of the puzzle, you place keys 2-4-1-3. A Save Pedestal is also here. Objective Complete- Find Deep Cellar Key 2 (Blue Gem) Objective Complete- Find Thorin **OPTIONAL! Before opening Thorin's cell, you can optionally Use the Elvish Opening Crystal you found in the Deep-Water Caverns to go back out and open that cave in the Courtyard to the left of the Kingdom entrance. You would Press X on the mini-pedestal next to the gate on the wall directly opposite Thorin's cell. It opens the tunnel gate. Follow the tunnel and use the Ring to get past the two elves. Follow the tunnel further and you go to the Stockade room. Use the Ring, and turn left and go out the tunnel by the ladder. Follow the tunnel to the next landing and go to the Courtyard via the tunnel with the Lantern hanging next to it. Enter the Courtyard by jumping right at the end of the tunnel. Go up to close the main entrance. Use the Ring to go across the main entrance path and go back up to that ledge where the cave gate was. Use Elvish Opening Crytal 4 (Blue Ball) in the opening pedestal and enter to get the goodies. You get master tactics improved rock throwing skills. Exit the cave to the Courtyard again. Backtrack your path exactly to Return to Thorin's cell. Go to the opening puzzle in the center of the cave. Place the four Deep Cellar keys in their proper place. For positions 1-2-3-4 of the puzzle, you place keys 2-4-1-3. The cell opens and you free Thorin and the dwarves to the Barrel Room. Objective Complete- Free Thorin and the dwarves You must open the gate to let the barrels out. Go across the bridge and press X on the opening pedestal. You are free! Talking to the dwarves here, they ask you to find and thank the master of LakeTown for the amazing hospitality you all have been shown. You understand he is by the Great Hall. Go down the alley and turn right. You find a save pedestal at the "CourtYard" of LakeTown. The alleys run around an open area in the center. Directly across the other side is the Great Hall Entrance with several men in front. OPTIONAL - You can go down to the floating boats and rafts and collect the courage gems. Start at the side with a wooden platform. Drop to it and jump your way from raft to raft until you get to the boat with the large diamond looking gem. Jump back one raft and note the mooring post sticking out of the water. Jump to it and each succesive one to get back up. Go to the Great hall entrance with all the men out front. One of them is Bard - the Captain of the Guard. He asks you to stake out the Wine Cellar to see if you can spot who has been stealing barrels. You agree. Objective Complete- Talk to the Master of Lake-Town Go to the left of the Great Hall and follow the path straight as far as you can. Turn right when you must. The Wine Cellars are in the distance. Go to the stack of 3 wooden Boxes and hide. A man is spotted going into, then out of the cellar. You must follow him without letting him get too far away. Use Stealth mode (Pull & Hold Left Trigger) and follow the thief. Always stay out of direct sight. Wait for him to turn corners and run up to the corners. Watch your distance meter to get an idea of how close he is around the corner from you. You ultimately follow the thief to the East Warehouse. You are immediately transported back to Bard to report, and he gives you the task of Inspecting that Warehouse. Objective Complete- Stake Out the Wine Warehouse Return to the Warehouse the same way you took following the Thief. Go inside, and you find several breakable boxes to cash in on. Once you break them all, go into the next section and you are greeted by Goblins. Fight them all to their death. Case the room for all its goodies. There are a few breakable boxes for coins, there is a lever on an upper walkway - climb the boxes near the entrance to get to a walkway. Kill the Goblin here. Long-jump to the next 2 walkways and the lever is there. Jump on the rope nearest you to get to the last walkway. Go back down and pull the lever by the double doors. It opens the doors. Go into the room. Get all the goodies at ground level here, then jump on the two sets of crates to get up to their respective ledges with a chest. Then, on the ground again, push the box to the right side of the back wall ledge. This ledge has a lever which activates the other swinging rope in the previous room. Go back to the previous room. Climb to either side ledge - left or right - and long jump to the swinging rope by the entrance to the next upper room. Once on the rope, you can jump atop the left side boxes and get the chest. Come back to the rope and go into the entrance to the next room. Open the double doors in the room, and you are talking to Bard outside. Objective Complete- Inspect the East Warehouse Objective Complete- Talk to Bard Bard takes you to the Cider House. He explains that thieves broke into the Armory and took things - one of which is the "Black Arrow" which was in his family for generations. The Arrow was given to them by the Dwarves, and he wants you to find it and return it. You are to ask around in the Cider House for clues. Talk to the man near Thorin. Learn that stolen weapons, apparently stolen by Von, are being kept in a warehouse. Another man in the dining area confirms this. Go up the stairs to talk to a third man, and when he learns from you that Goblins are involved, he confesses that Von is storing the weapons in Rennar's Warehouse. You must now find Rennar and let him know. Required- Explore the Cider House Leave the Cider house - go right out of the front door and foollow to the end. Turn right and then left and go towards the water. Go down the ramp and turn left. Follow the path as it wanders around the outside of the buildings. You come to an area wher you see a man standing on a dock, a Save Pedestal, and a few swinging ropes. You need to go talk to this man - he is Rennar. Continue towards Rennar, going down the steps and past the sign on your left (Rennar's Warehouse). Just past the sign, turn right and go down on the dock and talk to Rennar. He wass already suspicious of th eweapons being in his warehouse, so he gives you the key to go "Clean up the place". Go back up the dock and turn left. His warehouse is on the right - just past the sign. Objective Complete- Find Rennar Inside the warehouse, you find two grids of poisonous gas vents. Try to get through the first when you see there is a row which has no gas coming out. The next grid has you jumping to each square where there is no gas pipe. Once through, hit the switch on the back wall and it turns off all the gas. Jump to the ledge on your right - a Save Pedestal is here. Long-Jump back to the center row of boxes - do so where the two lower boxes are. Get all the breakable boxes up here and return to the Save Pedestal. Jump to the board ledges and qiuckly pull yourself up and jump to the next. These boards fall down nearly as soon as you get up on them. The third board ledge takes you to a rope. Jump from the rope to the last ledge and to the last rope. Jump into the exit opening in the back. This opening drops you down a chute into another room. The next room is full of frog creatutes - use your sword to eliminate them all and then make sure to get all the mushrooms. Jump to the ledges and use the ropes to get to the ledge with the Save Game Pedestal. From here, you jump to the dark rope, then to the light rope. OPTIONAL - climb up the rope to the rafters and get gems and a Golden Chest, then return to the light rope. Jump to the ledge and proceed through to the next room. You are now in the upper area of the entryway you came into, with the gas pipes in the floor. A rope is to your right. Jump to the rope. Jump down to the crates, and now go all around again to get back to the upper area of this room once more. Again take the rope, but this time climb UP to the rafters, and cross into the other room. Follow the rafters to the back wall where you can drop down onto a ledge with a Save Pedestal. Drop down, and throw the lever here to open the doors. Inside the room, you find a Goblin with the Black Arrow. He escapes the room. Grab the goodies here, then throw the lever on the back wall. It lowers a rope for your use in getting back to the lower leves. The ledge on the opposite wall above the crates now has a gem on it, so it looks like we need to go there again. Objective Complete- Inspect Rennar's Warehouse Jump to the rope to the right side of the ledge. Climb up some and jump to the next rope. Climb all the way up the rope and jump to the small ledge with the Save Pedestal on the opposite side. There is a lever behind the Save Pedestal - pull it. It opens the Warehouse doors. Come back out and go to the right side of the ledge. There are two small beams with gems sticking out of the wall ahead. Jump to each, and then to the end ledge on the opposite end of the room. Jump to the same ledges on the other side and make your way back to the rope. Jump to the long rope, and drop down ot the warehouse floor being careful not to land in the water of the other room! Make your way out of the entrance doors that you opened up with the lever. You will be transported back to Bard outside the Cider House. Objective Complete- Tell Bard About the Weapons Bard recommends you talk to an old reformed thief named Malloc who hangs out in the Cider House. Go to the Cider House and talk to Malloc. He is standing in the Cider house in the dining area. He tells you he will help you if you help him. He wants you to recover a family heirloom of his which was stolen by Von years ago - a golden dagger. It is in his old house. Objective Complete- Talk to Malloc Leave the Cider House and go to the left. Turn right past the Save Pedestal and go to the end. Malloc's old house is right at the end. Go in and go upstairs. There is a chest next to the bed. Open the chest to get Malloc's Dagger. Return to the Cider House. Inside the Cider House, locate Malloc and return his Dagger. He tells you the door to the Thieve's Hideout is locked by a combination. It can be opened by five Wine Bottles - two of which are in the Cider House. The other three are in various Thieve's houses in Lake-Town. The doors to these houses are marked by a Red Serpent. Objective Complete- Bring Malloc his Dagger Talk to the bartender at the Cider House, and he gives you the first of the two Cider House bottles. A door has opened in the floor by the entrance. Go down this cellar entrance. Objective Complete- Find a Wine Bottle in the Cider House (Purple) On the floor of the basement, you find the second Cider House bottle. Exit the cellar, then exit the Cider House. Objective Complete- Find a Wine Bottle in the Cider House (Blue) Go left and then right and right (going to the opposite side of the area). Orlan's house is just down here on the left. Go in, and open the chest to retrieve his bottle. Leave Orlan's House. Objective Complete- Find a Wine Bottle in Orlan's House (Red) Continue on past the Great Hall and around the center and you come to Elik's house. Enter and open the chest to get his bottle. Exit the house. Objective Complete- Find a Wine Bottle in Elik's House (Black) Continue on, except this time, do not turn and circle the open area. Go straight where it goes on to a man, then turn left. Rand's house is on the upper-left landing by the Save Pedestal. Open the chest here to acquire the last bottle. Exit the house and go back to the open area and Cider House. Objective Complete- Find a Wine Bottle in Rand's House (Yellow) At the Cider House, talk to Malloc. He doesn't remember the order exactly, but he does remember these rules: - YELLOW goes to the left of RED and BLUE, which(YELLOW) is NOT next to BLACK! - PURPLE can only lie next to BLACK, and none else! - BLACK is to the right of YELLOW! Thus, we know YELLOW is first. PURPLE is last, and BLACK is next to last. Therefore, only the order of position 2 and 3 are in question. I have determined it is BLUE then RED. So go to the cellar and place bottles in the rack in this order - YELLOW,BLUE,RED,BLACK,PURPLE. A doorway to the Thieve's Hideout then opens behind the shelves. Go into the opening and climb down the rope. You are now entering the Thieve's Hideout - a floating dock room under Lake-Town. A Save Pedestal is on your left. On the right is a control panel for repositioning the many floating docks. Press X on the control panel, and swap the middle and lower center row docks. Take the path to the upper right switch, throw the lever, and it opens the lower left doors. Quickly (may need to jump the whole way) run into the room as the doors will go back shut pretty fast. Once in the room, throw the lever to open the doors permanently. Open the two chests. Next, you need to make a short path that goes from the upper left to the lower right AND still accessible from the master dock with the control panel. With this done, you can throw the upper left switch, and beat the timer into the lower right room. Throw the switch in this room and it opens the remaining two doors (center door, and door to this room). Open the two chests and proceed back to the Control Panel. Now, simply fashion yourself a path clear to the back of the room and proceed through to the Save Pedestal. You find yourself in a room with three doors, three barrels, and six pressure pads in the floor (two rows of three). You need to find the right combination of barrels on pressure pads to open each door. Each of the barrels contains a darker band on them. One only the lower third, one the lower and middle thirds, and the other all three parts. This coincides with pictures on each of the pressure pads. Start with the single barrel and put it on the closest single pad. The pad should light up and a door creaks part way open. Next - pick up the triple barrel, and place it on the double pad in the opposite row (of three pads). Last, pick up the double barrel and place it on the only remaining double pad. A door is now completely opened. Go in and loot! Remove all barrels from pads. Place the triple barrel on one of the triple pads, then place the remaining single and double barrels on the other triple pad. The other lower door opens. Loot again! Get even better master stick fighting tactics. Remove all barrels from pads. This time start by putting the single barrel on the Save Pedestal side single pad. Place the double barrel on the opposite row double pad, and the triple on the triple pad in the same same row as the double. This opens the elevated double doors. Go in to the Save Pedestal. You proceed down the hall, and find the thieves in their hideout. They discuss the Goblins and their plan to rule Lake-Town. You spot the Black Arrow. You must sneak past the Thieves and Goblins to get the Black Arrow, then report back to Bard. Objective Complete- Find the Thieve's Hideout Use the ring as needed to navigate around from the left, to the opposite side ledge with a Save Pedestal. Navigate the tall boxes to get next to the Black Arrow. Use the Ring to drop down, nab the Black Arrow, then jump up onto the boxes. Get the rope and climb up to the upper ledge with the Save Pedestal. Objective Complete- Retrieve the Black Arrow A movie sequence is triggered exposing the men's plan to take all the Gold once the Swarves slay the Dragon. The man notices the Black Arrow is gone, and accuses the Goblins of taking it. A fight ensues. You must report to Bard so he can take advantage of this opportunity to catch them all. Jump from rope to rope until you are near the back platform. From here you jump to the stacked boxes, then up to the platform. Long-jump to the right side platform. Then jump to the rope, and to the left side platform. Jump to the next platform with the Save Pedestal and make your exit. You return to Bard and report of the fight in the Warehouse. You also give him the Black Arrow. He tells you to report to the Great Hall when you are ready to leave. Finish exploring for Gems or Chests you may have missed. Report to the great Hall when you are ready. END LEVEL - Buy Items =================================================== Level 9: Inside Information =================================================== Objectives: Required- Retrieve the Golden Cup Required- Find Smaug's Weak Spot Required- Bridge the Cavern Optional- Retrieve the Necklace of Girion Optional- Retrieve King Blador's Thin Spears Optional- Retrieve the Golden Serving Plate Optional- Retrieve Groin's Ruby You start outside the secret entrance in the Lonely Mountain. The dwarves wait outside while you are expected to go inside and retrieve the Golden Cup of Thror. Go into the tunnel and follow it to another Save Pedestal. Take the stairs up to the landing and you find Smaug asleep atop all the Dwarves Gold. The Golden Cup of Thror is right under his nose. Turn right and follow the path all the way to the end. Drop down to the floor and do not walk on the gold. Go to the blue chest and open it. Walk back to the upper walk, but get the blue chest underneath it first. Back on the upper walk, return a little ways then jump over the rail on the right where it curves out. Get another chest. Go to your left and walk the stones to the Save Pedestal. Go right of the save pedestal and get the chest behind it. Come back to the Save Pedestal. Go the opposite direction now (in front of the pedestal, not behind it) and continue on to a wall you must jump atop. Walk to the left edge of the wall. A chest is to the left, and another wall with chains above it is to the right. Open the chest, and come back to the wall. Jump to the other wall and navigate the chains on the right side to get to an upper walkway with a switch. Throw the switch to open a door on the landing below which holds the Necklace of Girion (Bard's bloodline). Come back to the wall. Jump back to the previous stone. Take the chains immediately ahead of the wall and jump to the clear floor with another Save Pedestal. Move the rock near the center pillar - do it slowly so as not to wake Smaug. Climb the rock and each successive ledge to the top. Jump to the lights and chains until you end up on the long chain above Smaug. Descend towards him and a movie sequence plays showing you retrieving the Golden Cup. You are restored on the gold pile next to Smaug. Jump to the stone, go to the stone on the left to get another chest, return and long-jump to the pillar. Jump to the Dwarf statue and down to the floor again. You are back to the Save Pedestal from earlier. Climb once again on the stone, and onto the pillar. This time, go right and jump onto the other Dwarf statue. Go around it to the other side, and jump to the ledge and to the floor behind it. This is the door you opened - get the Necklace of Girion. Return to the Save Pedestal. Objective Complete - Retrieve the Necklace of Girion Go back to the chains which take you to the wall. Jump to the previous wall, and return to the previous Save Pedestal (next to a wall). Go behind the wall and make your way across the stones and pillars towards Smaug's tail. You find a Save Pedestal. When Smaug lifts his tail, run and jump to the pillar, then jump down to the stone landing below. A Chest is at the far side. Jump to the next stone, and jump up to the upper walkway. Proceed down a little ways to a part where the railing curves out like a sort-of balcony. Go into the curve, jump on the railing, and climb up onto the stone ledge next to it. Climb the next railing and you are now on the second level walkway at another Save Pedestal. To the right, follow the walkway to a small door and a chest. Open the chest. Note the four symbols above the door - I remember them as eiffel tower, lollipop, left side of pine tree, arrow. This is the key to opening the door - we'll use it later. Get onto the railing and carefully continue down the walkway. You balance on the railing collect many bags of coins, and eventually you find three arrows. Get the arrows. Objective Complete - Retrieve King Blador's Thin Spears You can (OPTIONALLY) drop carefully down to the lower level railing where you see a gem. Collect more coins and gems on this walkway. Return once more to the upper level Save Pedestal. Jump onto the ledge at the end of the walkway next to the Save Pedestal. Jump to the next section of walkway, and throw the lever. It opens a small golden door below. Jump again to the next section of walkway, then jump onto the Dwarf Statue. On the ledge around the neck is a Save PEdestal. Jump to the outer landing section, then drop to the floor. Make your way to the clearing by the wall. The door you opened is here, and you get the Golden Serving Plate from inside. Objective Complete- Retrieve the Golden Serving Plate Jump back up to the head of the dwarf statue. Jump back to the walkway. Follow the walkway all the way back to the previous Save Pedestal. Drop down to the lower walkway level and exit the caves. This is about all you can do for the moment. May as well give Thorin his Golden Cup. Smaug realizes someone has stolen the cup as you exit. Objective Complete- Retrieve the Golden Cup The Dwarves rejoice in your finding the Cup, and swear to defeat the Dragon, although they have no plan. You volunteer to go back in and have a look around. Reenter the cave, and you descide to get a good look at Smaug from above. You must use the Ring now as Smaug is aware a thief is about, and he stays awake. Put on the ring and follow the walkway to the right. When it ends, drop down and jump the stones circling back around. Take the stones to the next Save Pedestal. Here you can take off the ring as you are hidden from Smaug behind the wall. Replace the Ring when it is back fully charged and follow the stones again to the right. You come to some chains - jump to the first and slide lower for the next, then jump to the floor. Another Save Pedestal is on the left. You can recharge the Ring again out of sight of Smaug. Put the ring on again and make your way towards Smaug. A Save Pedestal is just ahead under a slab of stone. From here, you must quickly, but carefully, cross the cave on the stones in front of Smaug. At the other end, you come to the Dwarf Statue you were on previously. There is a Save Pedestal on the ledge which circles the neck. Use the Ring and jump onto the drarves head, and jump to the light. Jump to the chain, and then the next light. Repeat until you come to the third light with the long chains to the left. Jump to the first chain, then climb up in preparation for going to the next chain. Your Ring runs out here, but it is ok. Jump to the next chain when you are high enough, then jump to the big light. Go to the gems near the side towards Smaug. A movie sequence is triggered. You banter with Smaug, and in the process he shows you his underbelly and scales. You note a weak spot where scales are missing. He hears you mutter this to yourself, and goes into a rage. You must now escape his random Fire-Throwing. Objective Complete- Find Smaug's Weak Spot When Smaug just finishes fire-throwing, scramble to the next hiding spot following the jewels. You get to the end, and a movie sequence is triggered again. Smaug has exited the cave in a rage. He destroys the mountainside, but not before the dwarves and yourself take cover inside the secret entrance tunnel. However, you are trapped now as the mountain side exit is destroyed. You must get out through the cave now. The Dwarves ask you to get them across the cavern so they can escape. You can talk to each of the Dwarves individually, and some will ask you for specific items. Essentially, I haven't found there to be much else new that can be found on the upper levels besides the occasional courage points, and a whole slew of chests with coins. Clean up the upper level by opening all the chests you can find, and picking up all the Courage Gems you can find. Also give each of the Dwarves the things you've found thus far (the only thing left to get is Gloin's Ruby). Objective Complete- Retrieve the Necklace of Girion Objective Complete- Retrieve King Blador's Thin Spears Objective Complete- Retrieve the Golden Serving Plate Now, to find Groin's Ruby and give it to Gloin. Also, we need to Bridge the Cavern. We'll start bry bridging the cavern. Start near the Save Pedestal by the dwarves. Drop down to the little landing just over the edge and near the rope. Make your way the rest of the way until you get to the very bottom. You pass Save Pedestals along the way, with blocks near them. We will move the blocks later. Locate the blue block near a drain in the floor (water whirpools here). Push the Blue block onto the drain so as to plug it. Quickly navigate up to the next Save Pedestal (gems appear Which are intended to show you the way). When the water stops rising, move the nearby blocks to cover the new area nearby where the water is draining. Again run up to the next spot and repeat until the last which has you going onto ropes to drop onto the wooden platform. When the platform reaches the top, jump off and go to the original Save Pedestal near the Dwarves and save. Cross the cavern, BUT DO NOT LEAVE YET OR TALK TO THORIN. We still need to get Groin's Giant Ruby for Gloin. Go up the walkway behind Thorin and go to the end getting all the goodies here. Come back towards Thorin and, when you reach a slab of stone in the walkway, jump up to the ledge on the wall and climb up. Now you can walk back carefully and jump up to the next higher walkway. When on the second level, turn around immediately and locate the chain here on the right. Climb up the chain to get to the third level. Follow this walkway all the way around until you are practically on the other side of the entrance to Erobor (the entryway Thorin was standing near). The walkway drops down slightly to a Save Pedestal and a lever nearby. You have finally located the lever which opens that door you found earlier. Inside lies Groin's Large Ruby that Gloin asked you to find. After releasing the lever, jump onto the rock nearby and traverse the lights once more until you reach the SECOND one with a Save Pedestal. To the left is a chain, and beyond that a stone arch with a Golden Chest. Open this chest for Master Sword tactics. Return to the Light with the Save PEdestal. Continue on until you come to a point where you can return to the wall on the right. This is where you started out. Go towards the wall and jump to the walkway with the Save Pedestal and Lever. Save again, and now make your way left. You need to jump on the railing and then up to the walkway. Continue past the Key (for whatever reason, you are unable to get it now). Continue on until you come to the two chains. Jump to the first one, then lower down as far as you can. Drop to the landing below. This is where the door was opened with the Giant Ruby. Get the ruby and return it to Gloin. Objective Complete- Retrieve Groin's Giant Ruby Now you can cross the Cavern and Talk to Thorin. Follow the path into Erobor. Bard lances him with the Black Arrow using the info gathered by Bilbo regarding his weak spot (news delivered by the Thrush). Scene returns to the Lonely Mountain after the Elves and the Men of Lake-Town plan to visit and ask for monetary help. Thorin asks you to help Oin find a way to open the doors which keep the Arkenstone. You talk to Oin and learn that he cannot determine how to open the doors, but he is sure it involves the two blocks next to you. Note the blocks are part of the missing piece of characters on the nearby wall. Flip the rocks until you find the missing part of the Rune. Then push the block in place. Flip a block by grabbing onto it, then pressing X. Make sure you have enough room, or the flip will not work. Repeat the same for the same kind of puzzle on the other side of the room, and all the doors open (except the Treasury Room). Objective Complete- Open the Doors Get the Gear Belt from atop a stone pillar near the Save Pedestal. You will need to jump up onto two wooden scaffolds next to the pillar to get to the top. Objective Complete- Acquire the Gear Belt Locate the Gear Room - it will have the gears symbol on the base of the steps. Go into the Gear Room entry, go right, and when the hall turns left again you are faced with several poisonous Red and Green spiders. Let your sword Sting have its fun. Continue on and the Gear Room is on your left. Enter the room and scour all the walkways for Pots to smash and Courage Gems to acquire. Lastly, go to the top of the wooden scaffolds and place the gear belt on the broken gears. No more to be done here, so exit back to the main chamber. Objective Complete- Repair the Gears Make your way to the Water Room. This is the room which has doors on either side of the incoming water. When you get to the access hall, their is a sign on the left side which translates to something like this - "You must walk though EROBOR to get to it's Heart". Behind you is a statue which has the Rune key for the word EROBOR. These are the Runes you must step on in the proper order to get across the floor and unlock the doors on the other side. Go back (turn around) to the entryway with the puzzle on the floor. Start on the right hand side. Step on the Rune which looks a bit like an H or N. It lights up. Go right to the letter that looks like an up arrow. Go up (and jump the spikes) to the Rune that looks like an A (without the center cross connector). Go left to the R. Then again to the next Rune that looks like an A (without the center cross connector). And lastly to the letter that looks like an up arrow. You are at the end now and the door opens! OPTIONAL - There are four(4) statues in the main chamber of Erobor. Their names are able to be entered on this floor the same way, and each will open a secret treasure chest room. The names are (use sign as key or write down runes at the statues): DURIN - Opens 2 doors in the lower level of the Water Room THROR - Opens a door in wall outside right Water Room door in Erobor main chamber THORIN - Opens a door in the upper level of Erobor where lifts come in THRAIN - Opens a door in the upper level of Erobor opposite where lifts come in You have entered the Water Room which controls the power for Erobor. On the floor are two grids of valves. These valves, in proper setting, allow water through the grid and into multiple outlets. You must set the valves in each grid to allow water into all possible outlets. Start with the left grid. Walk past the grid to the ladder wall on the end. Climb up the ladder and throw the switch at the top. You are now in the valve setting mode. There are four outlets you must direct water to - two on the right, and two at the top. You have also powered the Treasury Door. It lengthens so as to reach the bottom. Save your progress, then return to the upper landing. Take the lift and ride it through the entire lenght of Erobor. Stay on until it returns you to the upper control switch on the other side of the Water Room. It lengthens so as to reach the bottom. Save your progress at the Save Pedestal, then return to the upper landing. Ride the lift until it takes you to the other side of the Water Room. Jump off before entering the tunnel. Walk the landing and get all the Courage Gems. You also pick up a Key Mold. You can walk to the right side wall, and walk the small ledges back towards the second switch. As you get to the falls, there is a small ledge by the water. Go to this ledge, and walk towards the wall of the Water Room and over the ledge. You safely drop to the floor of the Water Room. Save at the Save Pedestal. Objective Complete- Acquire the Second Throne Key Mold Exit the Water Room on the left side and return to the main chamber of Erobor. The next set of steps straight ahead take you into the Forge Room. You will again have to battle poison spiders. Inside the Forge Room, there is a Save Pedestal at the center of the floor. Break the pots open that are nearby. Go behind the stairs and battle the poison spiders on each side below the staircases. Get the many courage gems in here. Return to the Save Pedestal. Go up the steps now and get all the courage gems and pots on this landing. Next, walk each small ledge against the walls at the far right and left. Cross to the upper landings on the right and left sides of the Forge room. On the right side is one of the four doors you opened in the Water Room that contains Chests. Come back to the Save Pedestal. Cross to the other side of the room and talk to Bifur. He explains the fire still needs to be lit before the Forge can be used. Take either of the left/right walkways around the back of the Forge. At the very back, climb th eladder to the top. Here you find the pilot light. Press X on it and you push it into the Forge fuel. Objective Complete- Light The Forge Objective Complete- Power The Forge Once more, talk to Bifur. He explains you need to find the Treasury Key Molds. You already have one which you recovered in the upper landing area of the Water Room. Bifur explains the other is kept by the Throne, and you'll have to find a way to lower the Throne to get it. Lets forge the Second Throne Key while were here. Go to the cart at the right side of the Forge. Press X and place the Second Key Mold on the cart. Go back to the switch by Bifur. Press X on the switch, and the Forge creates the key. Go back to the cart and press X to retrieve the key. Objective Complete- Forge the Second Throne Key Make a quick stop at the Gear Room. There is now a chest in the left wall opened from the Water Room. Get the contents, then go next door to the Treasury Room. Again fight the spiders in the entrance hall. In the Treasury room, talk to the Dwarf and learn that you must use the key in the door here, and that you must use the four chains to lower the pillar and gain access to the Keyhole. Clean out all the pots and gems here, as well as the third of four chests in the wall on the right. Jump up to each of the three immediate chains near the entrance staircase. We'll get to the fourth later. Return to the Forge Room (use left side entrance where you already cleaned out the spiders). Climb up to the top landing. We need to ride the lifts now, so jump into one. Ride the lift through the Water Room and !OPTIONAL - into the upper area of the gear room for gems (must fight spiders). Ride Lift to the top of the Treasury Room. A Save Pedestal is here. Walk back towards the lift entrance tunnel and open the fourth Chest which was revealed from the Water Room. Return to the lift by jumping up on a crane and grabbing the lift as it goes by. Ride the lift to the main chamber of Erobor. Jump off just before reentering a tunnel on the other side. You are on the upper landings of the main chamber and near a Save Pedestal. Continue up the walkway and you must long-jump a gap on a narrow ledge. At the end of the next walkway you fight spiders, and find the other Throne Key Mold. Objective Complete- Acquire the First Throne Key Mold Continue on the walkway past the water falls area making sure to get all the pots and courage gems. Continue to the other side landing where you again fight spiders and acquire the fourth chain. Objective Complete- Find the Missing Chain Return to the floor of Erobor via the chains on either side upper landings. Return to the Forge room and forge the other key the same way you did the previous one. Objective Complete- Forge the First Throne Key Come back out to the main chamber of Erobor and go to the throne area at the head of the water. Place the two Throne keys in their proper place. The side pillars drop and you get a large Courage Gem along with the mold for the Treasury Key. Objective Complete- Acquire the Treasury Key Mold Return to the Forge room and forge the Treasury key the same way you did the previous two. Take the lift out of the Forge room and return to the Treasury Room. Attach the fourth chain to the crane by timing yourself to walk out to the end of the crane when a lift has just gone by. Press X to attach the chain. Return to the floor by walking out from the ledge and grabbing the chain you just put on. Objective Complete- Reattach the Missing Chain Objective Complete- Expose the Keyhole Place the Treasury Key into the appropriate spot next to the dropped pillar. The Door opens exposing two Golden Chests, several gems and coins. GET THE ARKENSTONE LAST as this ends the level. Grab the gems, coins and chests first. END LEVEL - Buy Items =================================================== Level 11: The Clouds Burst =================================================== Objectives: Required- Deliver Gandalf's Message to Bard Required- Save the Dwarves Required- Stop the Catapult Required- Break down the Barrier Required- Save Corwin Required- Return to Gandalf Required- Find Lianna Required- Acquire the Wall Lever Required- Release the Catapult Required- Destroy the Wall Required- Find Beorn Required- Help Beorn Required- Follow Beorn Required- Drop the Bridge for Beorn Optional- A war nearly erupts for the Dwarves. The Men of Laketown and the Wood Elves had requested assistance in their losses to the Dragon Smaug, and the return of gold stolen by Smaug from them. Thorin refuses. Bilbo snuck the Arkenstone out to the Men, and they attempt to use that in trade to get Thorin to listen to them. Instead, Thorin curses Bilbo and refuses. Just as war is about to break out, Gandalf arrives warning of a Goblin hoard about to arrive and attack. The Men, Dwarves and Elves unite against this common enemy. Gandalf asks you to deliver a message to Bard, the Man Captain of Lake-Town. Get the two chests at the camp before setting out to find Bard. Exit the Camp. you find Thorin and some Dwarves are pinned down. They ask you to use your ring and help them get out. Use the barricade on the right side - go up behind it. Select your sword as your weapon. Put on your ring and go up to one of the goblins. Remove the ring, whoop some Goblin tail, then dart back behind the barricade when health necessitates it. Repeat until victory. Objective Complete- Save the Dwarves A ladder drops. Get the Mushrooms and Throwing Stones before going up. Climb the ladder and find the Save Pedestal. Continue past and you find Wolves are attacking men on the landing below. Use your Throwing Stones to take out a bunch of them. Return to the ladder and climb down to replenish stones if necessary, return to the Save Pedestal, then drop to the landing below to finish off the wolves. Jump up the stone steps on the opposite side, and JUMP across the bridge (it collapses if you walk across). Open the Golden Chest. Continue on and you find more men fighting wolves on a landing below. Drop down and help out. Get the courage gems and health potions before moving on down the path. You come to a wooden maze-like path and happen upon a fierce battle. A catapult is shooting at the men and elves here. Someone asks you to stop the catapult. You must fight your way down to the end of the ravine. The catapult is up some steps on the right. Take out the goblin who runs it, then press X to operate it and break down a barrier. Objective Complete- Stop the Catapult Objective Complete- Break Down the Barrier Go through the barrier at the lower landing and you come to the end of the wooden sided path to a Save PEdestal. Further on you find Corwin being attacked by Goblins. Unleash your sword Sting on the Goblins. Corwin thanks you and offers you cover while you proceed to find Bard. Objective Complete- Save Corwin Follow Corwin to the ladder and use your ring to sneak past the Goblin hoard to the other side. Get the rope and go up to the upper landing. Continue on and you find Bard and his men on a lower landing. Drop down and deliver your message to Bard. Bard demands you return to Gandalf. Objective Complete- Deliver Gandalf's Message to Bard Climb the steps and take out the two Goblins on the wooden bridge. Cross the bridge and jump to the wooden ledge across the ravine. Follow the path and drop down to a lower landing. As you continue on, and explosion occurs opening a hole in a nearby wall. Gandalf appears. He alerts you the path to the Elven King is blocked, and asks you to find Lianna and stay with her while he attends to "Other Business". Objective Complete- Return to Gandalf As you enter the newly opened path, there are several Goblins here to greet you. Battle the Goblins and get the mushrooms. Scour this area before going to the Save Pedestal and up the stone stairs. There is a large amount of Courage Gems in the upper left area, as well as a health potion. Go to the Save PEdestal, and up the stone stairs. On the other side, you drop to another lower landing with yet another Save Pedestal and set of stone stairs. Save and go up the stairs. you locate Lianna in a heated battle with Goblins. She tells you you must break down the wall and get out. Objective complete- Find Lianna Go past Lianna and to the end of the path. You locate the catapult. On the right of the catapult is ladder to an upper ledge with another catapult. There is a wall panel here that is missing a lever. You must find the lever to get the ladder above to drop down. With the ladder down, you can drop the barrel above onto the catapult. Back on the lower level, to the left of the catapult, there is another wooden ladder. Climb up the ladder go all the way to the right as far as you can (towards the wall you must destroy). When you've gone as far as you can, turn and go left until you see a Goblin. Use your throwing rocks to hit the explosive barrels just beyond him, taking him and any other goblins out. Go to where the goblin was. There are two ladders here - one right by where the goblin was and another behind a small wall the the left of it. Jump over the small wall and go up the second ladder to the platform above. You find the wall lever. Objective complete- Acquire the Wall Lever Jump back down towards the goblin below and take him out. Go back down the ladder ahead (the same one you came up on). Go over to the other ladder and climb up. Don't worry about Lianna - she easily defends herself. Go up to the Save Pedestal on the left side. There is a wall switch plate to the right. Press X on it and place the wall switch lever. A ladder drops down to the right. Go up the ladder. Press X on the barrel to drop it on the catapult starting a chain reaction which ultimately destroys the wall. Objective complete- Release the Catapult Objective complete- Destroy the Wall Equip your walking stick, and jump down to the Save Pedestal on the left, then down in front of the lower catapult. Go through what was once the wall, and cross the bridge. Long-Jump at the end to get up to the Goblins. Defeat them, then long-jump to the next pillar. Defeat these two Goblins, and move on to the next. Defeat the goblin and jump to the next pillar then to the opposite side landing. You meet Beorn in the shape of a bear. He immediately befriends you on the common dislike of Goblins. You tell him you bring a message from Gandalf - that Bolg is advancing from the North. You offer your help. Beorn accepts and asks you to follow him. Objective Complete- Find Beorn Follow Beorn - grab the chain and climb to landing. Go past Save the Pedestal and down to the lower landing. Follow the path to get to Beorn. He needs to cross the bridge and asks you to somehow drop the other half of the bridge on the opposite side. Go to the right and jump on the wooden platforms, then get on the stone landing. Long-jump your way across the river onto the stone pillars. When on the other side, go down the stone ledges and long-jump across to the small ledge. walk the small ledge to the left until it wraps around and comes to a chain. Climb the chain to the upper landing and fight the Goblins here. Go through the opening in the wooden barrier and to your right. You find the bridge and it's control lever. There is an explosive barrel next to the lever - hit it with a throwing rock. The bridge drops, and Beorn comes across and smashes a barrier. Follow Beorn. Objective Complete- Drop the Bridge You eventually come to another Save Pedestal. Save here, then continue on to the Final Challenge. Beorn is being held by the Goblin magic via four Goblins under supervision of the Goblin King. Drop to the lower level and use the ring to avoid being engaged by the Goblins. Go to the left side to a vertically moving staircase. Climb up and go left. Long-jump across the gap and drop barrel #1. It takes out 1 of the Goblins holding Beorn. Three more to go. Go right, turning around, and climb the ladder. Go right and go straight past the Goblin. Long-jump the gap down to the lower landing. Again go right past the Goblin and drop barrel #2. It takes out 1 of the Goblins holding Beorn. Two more to go. Turn left, and go around (following the gems) to the chain. Grab the chain, and it transports you across the area. Jump off at the other end, jump the floor spikes, and walk the plank to drop barrel #3. It takes out 1 of the Goblins holding Beorn. One more to go. Grab the chain to your immediate right and climb up to the ledge. Jump onto the ledge and follow the path. Jump the spikes, and continue to the last barrel - drop barrel #4. It takes out the last of the Goblins holding Beorn. Beorn breaks free and destroys the Goblin King. The war ends, and Thorin forgives Bilbo from his death bed. Gold once again flows from Lonely Mountain as the men of Lake Town receive their stolen Gold for rebuilding efforts. Bilbo returns home with Gandalf. END LEVEL YOU MADE IT!
